Swimming Pool Leak Detection Services
think you have a leak?
Start With A Bucket Test!
A bucket test is the simplest, most cost effective way to assess if your pool is leaking.
- With your pool at normal operating level, place a bucket filled with pool water (so water Sample Temperature Matches Pool) on the top step of the pool. It is imperative that you use a sound bucket that holds water.
- Fill the bucket with water to approximately 1-2 inches from the top. Mark this level with a piece of tape. This will determine the amount of water loss due to evaporation.
- Mark the water level of the pool on the outside of the bucket. This will determine the total amount of water loss, (potential) leak and evaporation.
- After 24 hours, compare the two levels. If the pool water (the outside mark) goes down more than the inside water level, your pool most likely has a leak. If you subtract the loss from inside the bucket from the loss on the outside of the bucket, you can determine how much water you are losing as a direct result of the leak.

Swimming Pool Leak Detection & Repair
Finding swimming pool and spa leaks can be a very complicated process and not all leak detection companies are equal. There is a lot to consider before hiring a company to locate a leaking problem in your pool. H2Operations has almost 30 years experience finding and repairing swimming pool and spa leaks in the Bay Area. Our experience and success rate enables us to offer one of the best guarantees in the business.

Underwater Work/VGB Compliance
Pools and spas must comply with the Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Pool & Spa Safety Act, requiring anti-entrapment drain covers that meet ANSI/APSP-16 2011 standards, and split or dual drain systems with safety vacuum release or automatic pump shut-off. In Marin County, pools and spas must also comply with the VGB Act and ensure they are replaced before expiration (typically 3-10 years dependent on manufacturer) to avoid closure.
In most cases, H2Operations can obtain the proper permits after system audit and bring pools to compliance with a rather simple process of diving the pool, drilling, and screwing in a new, compliant cover into the existing frame. With old brass frames, and certain types of plastic ones, the process becomes a bit more involved. Making it necessary to remove the old frame and cement in and new plastic frame to hold the new anti-entrapment cover.

Pressure Testing/Blockage Service
In some circumstances, a swimming pool may not require a full leak detection if owner, or pool maintenance company is just looking for confirmation of leak in specific plumbing line or blockage clearance, H2Operations can offer a brief (30 min) service call for a lesser cost than that a full leak detection.
